WOW ; APC’s time has expired, says ex-Deputy Gov

A one time Deputy Governor of Oyo State, and now a governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hazeem Gbolarumi, on Thursday said the possibility of the All Progressive Congress (APC) retaining the governorship seat is non-existent.

Gbolarumi, who was at the PDP national secretariat to submit his nomination form for the contest for the PDP ticket, disclosed that the political structure left behind by the late strongman of Ibadan politics, Chief Ariyibi Lamidi Adedibu, was still intact and ready to roar again and will be used to unseat the government of Governor Abiola Ajimobi.
Speaking on the desire of his former principal, Adebayo Alao-Akala, to re-contest the office of the governor, Gbolarumi noted that it was high time Alao-Akala stopped his plan for the office, saying his time has passed.
Speaking on the efficacy of the Adedibu political structure, he said, “I can confirm to you here authoritatively that the political structure left by Baba Adedibu is still very much intact despite the fact that there were some defectors, there is no cause for alarm, at least,  it is still intact by 99 per cent despite all odds”.
On his chances in the race following the entrance of Alao-Akala in to the race with both of them banking on the same late Adedibu’s political structure, Gbolarumi said, “as for former Governor Akala, he should step aside. I don’t know what he wants again, he’s the most favoured governor in the state having served for two terms of eight years, four as a Deputy Governor and another four as a substantive Governor.
“Sincerely, I don’t know what he is looking for again, though all of us are qualified but he should allow others to try their luck”.
On his relationship with Akala and the possibility of arriving at a consensus arrangement among the late Adedibu followers, who are in the race, he said the relationship is very cordial and that “at the highest level, we are looking into how we can arrive at a consensus arrangement. You know in politics, we disagree to agree, so, there is still room for more talks, if it works out fine and if not fine”
According to him,”as for the incumbent government of the APC in Oyo state, they should forget the State because they have disappointed the people of the state who voted the into power, they have to go and we are set for the task”
